The Subaru Legacy GT 2.0

I took the chance to do a review of my own ride of 5 years.
Over from the previous ride BMW320 E46, this car feels different. On the bad side, she is definitely Japanese and luxury level still feels a tact short of the German marquee. However, power, handling and fun factor top it over any day. I bought the car with a few factors in mind. 1st, 2.0 single scroll turbo pushing out 245hp is like a toy to a guy. 2nd, 4 wheel drive that commands better handling, 3rd twin exhaust just looks sportier & 4th moon roof… All these feels like a more fun car than the BMW… And of 40k cheaper!! Needless to say, the BMW’s prestige is unrivaled.

However of all of the fun mentioned, problems came on the 5th year of the car. I consider myself a low usage and light footed driver. The car remains stock condition till today with no modifications whatever so. Mileage is keep low at 18k a year partly because fuel consumption is pretty high.
The car feels like falling apart, Tons of knocking noise while driving across humps and minor bumps, Engine feels a lot lesser power and definitely doesn’t drive as smoothly.
And to make matter worse, COE just shot up the 13 year high!!
I decided to go for a complete professional make over for my ride.

So what broke down?
Engine
Radiator leaks, engine bearings wear & tear, steering rack & pillion crack, power steering pump broke, engine timing off-sync, engine mountings

Suspension & Under-carriage
All 4 suspension kit, most under carriage connector bushes, Front suspension mounting plate,

Interior
Leather change to Nappa leather.

Outcome,
Gosh! I didn’t know that this car drive so well. Maybe because over the years, this feeling faded and I have forgotten about the happiness then picking up this car from Motor Image office. The car feels like a new born.
It is difficult to express this feeling but i was caught grinning to myself a few time by my wife while driving these few days! It might just feels a little better than a new car 🙂

Eventually decided to fix it up. Brake kit still pending to change as the stock kit keep wobbling every thing i brake…
